SigTrent Games – AI Policy

I wanted to let folks know where I stand on AI Gen technology and lay out the professional standards I personally hold to.

My Professional Standards

  1. I don’t use AI gen text for any of my writing or game design either as a publisher or freelancer.
  2. I don’t use AI gen images for any product I sell commercially or for my professional websites.

The first point is there primarily because I want my work to be part and parcel of my own creativity. I am a skilled enough writer that I don’t need AI assistance and I simply enjoy the craft of writing too much to assign it to a computer. I also want people to know that when they pay for my work, its my work they are getting.

The second point is there because I think artists are an integral and essential part of the gaming hobby and profession. They should always have an opportunity to make a living in the gaming world and they will always make incredible contributions. If I’m making money in games, I want artists to make money as well.

I do use AI Gen on occasion for my private amusement such as making character portraits for games I play in or backgrounds for my computer desktop. I also use AI tools like spelling checkers, grammar checkers, and other analytical tools (including tools to check for the use of AI-Gen in work submitted to me). I am not a campaigner against the technology in total, but I do think there should be professional standards in its use by anyone trying to make a living in any creative industry.
